Superstar Nollywood actress, Mercy Johnson-Okojie, has repeated history with the filming of a box office movie titled ‘Inikpi’, directed by movie director, Frank Rajah Arase.
In a chat with Showtime Bonus, Mercy Johnson-Okojie disclosed that ‘Inikpi’, which means ‘Lamb’, was inspired by the need to chronicle the story of Inikpi, the legendary Igala princess who laid down her life for the peace, progress and safety of her people.
“The movie was inspired by the story of Inikpi, an Igala princess and only daughter of the Attah of Igala, who offered to lay down her life to end the imminent war between the Igala Kingdom and the Benin Kingdom.”
The movie features fresh talents discovered during the GYB Talent Hunt organized by the mother of three in Kogi State in August 2017. She explained that the movie was a feretile ground to showcase the talents discovered at the talent hunt.
“Inikpi is a veritable platform to put the talents discovered into practical and positive use, and encouraged them to put in their best”, she said. According to Mercy who is also the Senior Special Assistant to Kogi State Governor on Entertainments, Arts and Culture, while on set of Inikpi, Chief of Staff to Kogi State Government, Edward Onoja, paid a courtesy visit to commend her for her strides in driving the entertainment industry in the state to a global recognition.
‘Inikpi’ had the very best of top Nollywood actors including Mercy Johnson, Sam Dede, Odunlade Adekola, Saheed Balogun, Paul Obazele among others.
