Chief Francis Alochu Ikpobu, a philanthropist and President, Alochu Foundation for the Less Privileged, a Benue-based charity organisation, has emerged the winner of jamesibechi.com Person of the Year Award.
Also selected for honour as the news medium’s Benue Men of the Year are insurance Commandant, Peace Corps of Nigeria, Amb. Dickson Akoh; philanthropist Dr. Mike Atser; Chairman of Middle Belt Traditional Council (MBTC), Lagos/South West, Chief Ochi Emmanuel Ode; Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Air Force, Rt. Hon. Samson Okwu, and Deputy Majority Leader, Benue State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Nick Eworo.
Mr. James Ibechi, the Editorial Director of the online medium, others who by the editorial judgement of jamesibechi.com, merited the honour and were picked, include Dr. Joseph Ngbea, Hon. George Ali, Hon. Peter Onche and Hon. Austine Agada.
He disclosed that aside Chief Alochu, who emerged out of public poll conducted to know who would pick the star prize: jamesibechi.com Person of the Year, the rest awardees were picked because of their outstanding selfless services, first to humanity and to the state and the nation, as well as for their continued services for development of Benue communities, in various spheres.
These, according to him, include local government administration, philanthropy, leadership, empowerment, etc, which shaped mostly the contents of our news pages in the year, 2017.
Mr. Ibechi stated that the awardees will be honoured on January 3, 2018, at Benue Hotels, Makurdi, while brief profiles of the awardees by jamesibechi.com will also be published on the medium’s site.
He explained that Www.jamesibechi.com, a subsidiary of The Hawk Newspaper, is an online news medium of high repute with a bias on Benue and Middle Belt reportage.
