Gunmen on Monday attacked Toryila Akor, a former Personal Assistant to former Benue State Governor Gabriel Suswam, in Gboko.
Akor also served former Minister of Justice and Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF) Mike Aondoakaa, before returning home to work with Suswam.
He was, however, lucky as the bullets only pierced his stomach. He is currently receiving treatment at a private hospital in Makurdi.
The former Attorney-General’s brother, Ordoo Aondokaa, told The Nation that the gunmen arrived at Akor’s home about 3am on Monday.
“They scaled the fence and were struggling with the main door; the key dropped and the strange noise attracted the victim, who was shot in an attempt to see who it was,” he said.
The culprits fled after shooting their victim.
Police spokesman Moses Yamu could not comment as he was in a meeting; he promised to get back.
